NEW WESTMINSTER PIER PARK PROJECT
M2K was hired by New Westminster to develop and expand the existing wharf situated over the Fraser River. The project was valued at $8 million dollars. The scope of work included demolition of existing creosote timber wharf decks and 2.5 acres of new pier construction. The new pier was built on 300 steel piles surrounded by 5000 timber densification piles.
Project Challenges: The project was situated adjacent and over the banks of the Fraser River posing a variety of environmental and construction challenges. The majority of the works were executed from land while other works required to be completed from water based barges.
Project Highlights: M2K implemented various safety and environmental control procedures. The New Westminster Pier Park improvement project was a huge success. It was completed on time, on budget and with zero environmental incidents.
